Brand Crush #2 - Smashbox

Hello my Dears!

After the smashing success of trying out the Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara (review HERE) I was quite curious about this brands other offerings!

Smashbox, the cosmetics brand, evolved out of  Smashbox L.A. - a legendary photo studio - bringing real behind the camera expertise into play when developing cosmetics designed to bring out the wearers' own, natural beauty.

The following products are definitively going on my wishlist!

Full Exposure Palette
This neutral palette contains 14 harmonising shades - 7 shimmer and 7 matte - range from nude through to black.  I love the tones of this palette, the shade range and the matter/shimmer mix.

Smashbox Blush Rush in Gingersnap.. perfect color for a gorgeous glow
Blush Rush in "Gingersnap"

I love the muted tone of this blush and think it suit my pale skin tone very well and would be lovely to go with natural looks.

I'm always looking for the perfect primer to help me achieve a flawless yet natural looking complexion. This looks like it would be fantastic at counter-acting signs of redness evening out skin tone prior to make-up application.

I'm always looking for the perfect primer to help me achieve a flawless yet natural looking complexion. This looks like it would be fantastic at counter-acting signs of redness evening out skin tone prior to make-up application.

Smashbox Lip Enhancing Gloss - Candid (this works really well with my Fresh Sugar Rose lipgloss and gives it a nice slight sparkly look - I also like the Ilume color as well and it gives it more sheer look)
Lip Enhancing Glossin "Candid"

I think this gloss would be perfect for "Just Gloss" days! I love the gold undertones which will work really well if your skin has got a warm undertone.

Which Smashbox products do you recommend?

Thanks so much for reading this post and have a great day!

Orange Lips at New York Fashion Week 2014 - How to get the look at the Drugstore/on the Highstreet

Orange lips, orange lips, orange lips. New York fashion week 2014 s/s. #nyfw #nyfw14 #orange

Orange lips looked great for spring and summer at New York Fashion Week making sure that the focus is firmly on the lips with the rest of the make up being very neutral

My choices are all available at the Drugstore or on the Highstreet and consequently are budget-friendly!

Catrice's Pure Shine Lip Balm in "060 Go Flamingo Go" (Euro 4.99) is a great, subtle shade creating a shiny finish to ease you into the trend.

Catrice Pure Shine Lip Balm

MUA's Matte Lipstick in "Peachy Keen" is great for creating a stunning, light orange lip with peachy undertones.  The matte finish makes this lipstick ideal for making a long-lasting colour statement (and at £1 it's a great lipstick to try out a new trend).

MUA Matte Lipstrick

Another great option to achieve an on-trend orange lip is Revlon's Colorburst Lacquer Balm in "Tease" (£7.99).  This Balm stick glides on easily - no lip liner necessary - , has a great minty scent and gives lips a subtle glossy sheen.  The orange tone is super intensive with a hint of red.

If you are after pure shade of orange which not just pops but sparkles and fizzes, then Maybelline's Color Sensational Vivids Lipstick in "912 Electric Orange"  (£7.19) is where it's at!  The colour applies evenly and is super intense - like straight from the New York catwalk!

Will you be going orange for summer?

March 2014 - My Monthly Favourites!

I haven't done these for a while but as I have been loving so many great products this months, I thought this would be a great time to do a monthly favourites post again!

This time round it'll be purely make up as I have been really obsessed with quite a few products!

Base Products
L'Oreal, Skin79, Maybelline, Rimmel, Benefit Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Sally Girl, Babylips, BB Cream, Too Faced, Catrice

As we have been moving into spring I have been very focused on achieving natural yet perfected skin and these products worked great for me in the past month:

Cream Blushes
L'Oreal, Skin79, Maybelline, Rimmel, Benefit Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Sally Girl, Babylips, BB Cream, Too Faced, Catrice

For me spring and cream blushes go hand in hand and I have worn these two pretty much all month - either on their own or topped with a powder blush.

Maybelline Facestudio Masterglaze Blushstick in "Pinch Pink"

MUA Cream Blusher in "Yummy"

Face Powders
L'Oreal, Skin79, Maybelline, Rimmel, Benefit Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Sally Girl, Babylips, BB Cream, Too Faced, Catrice, Bourjois, MUA, Collection

As my goal was a natural, luminous complexion I have felt naturally drawn to products helping me achieve these and the following four have worked particularly well for me this month:

Physicians Formula Happy Booster in 52 "Natural"

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer

Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder in 52 "Vanille"

Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

Eyeshadows
L'Oreal, Skin79, Maybelline, Rimmel, Benefit Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Sally Girl, Babylips, BB Cream, Too Faced, Catrice, Bourjois, MUA, Collection

This month I was all about neutral eyes with muted pink/rose-gold twist and I in particular enjoyed the below products as they give a beautiful finish and wear really well.

Urban Decay Naked 2

Sally Girl - Single Eyeshadows in "Midnight", "Brick", "Cranberry" and  "Cinammon"

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows in " Hourglass Beige", " Forever Pink" and "Amber Rush"
(Review of the first two shades here)

Mascara
L'Oreal, Skin79, Maybelline, Rimmel, Benefit Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Sally Girl, Babylips, BB Cream, Too Faced, Catrice, Bourjois, MUA, Collection, Smashbox, Physicians Formula, Essence

These were my go-to mascaras for super black, fluttery lashes:

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara in "Jet Black"
(Review here)

Physicians Formula Organic Wear Jumbo Lash Mascara in "Ultra Black"

Essence "I heart Extreme" Volume Mascara in "Black"

Lip Balms
L'Oreal, Skin79, Maybelline, Rimmel, Benefit Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Sally Girl, Babylips, BB Cream, Too Faced, Catrice, Bourjois, MUA, Collection, Smashbox, Physicians Formula, Essence

This months I've kept my lips soft with:

Maybelline Babylips in "Peach Kiss", "Intense Care" and Dr. Rescue "Peachy"

Lipsticks
L'Oreal, Skin79, Maybelline, Rimmel, Benefit Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Sally Girl, Babylips, BB Cream, Too Faced, Catrice, Bourjois, MUA, Collection, Smashbox, Physicians Formula, Essence

I have been all about the nude lip this month and found three really flattering shades which are great for paler skin tones. (All lipsticks also have a really smooth and creamy formula).

Too Faced La Creme in "Deep Maple" (1.)

Maybelline Colorsense Nude Lipstick in "Tantalizing Taupe"

Balm Sticks
L'Oreal, Skin79, Maybelline, Rimmel, Benefit Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Sally Girl, Babylips, BB Cream, Too Faced, Catrice, Bourjois, MUA, Collection, Smashbox, Physicians Formula, Essence

For a quick shine boost of comfortable color I always had a balm stick in my handbag!

Catrice Pure Shine Balm in "Go Flamingo Go", "Rusty in Peace" and "Rose Woody"
(Catrice Cosmetics is available in drugstores in Germany, Austria, Spain, Croatia, Switzerland, Portugal, Hungary and Slovakia)

These are my "Monthly Favourites" for March!

I think next months post will have a skin care focus to balance things out!

I'd love to know your favourites!

Thanks so much for reading this post and enjoy the rest of the weekend!
